Samantha Wyles 57 years old, Leicestershire
Samantha has dedicated her career to supporting disabled children and adults. Her journey took a challenging turn when she was diagnosed with hereditary Deep Artery Thrombosis, a condition that ultimately led to her becoming a double above-knee amputee.
Samantha remains passionate about advocating for change. She hopes to raise awareness about Deep Artery Thrombosis. She also champions better physiotherapy support and improved healthcare guidance for amputees, especially those with above-knee amputations.
Why did she join the AmpuNATION project?
Samantha strongly believes that mental health support for amputees is essential but often overlooked. Through her story, she aims to inspire greater understanding and support for those facing similar challenges.
The lack of support after my amputations made the change more difficult to overcome. I hope to see more resources available for people like me, especially those who might not even know they have a blood disorder like Deep Artery Thrombosis. Awareness and education can make all the difference.
